Chypre is considered one of the most beautiful and sophisticated fragrance families. These complex, character-rich scents create an elegant and mysterious effect through the contrast of cool and warm notes. The name Chypre is French for “Cyprus,” and its origin is linked to the iconic fragrance “Chypre de Coty,” created in 1917 by the renowned perfumer François Coty, inspired by the island itself.
In “Chyprè,” a luxurious labdanum resin unfolds as the heart of the fragrance, adding sweetness and a sense of opulence. When inhaled, subtle leather nuances can be detected, sometimes intertwined with hints of honey and plum. Since ancient times, this resin has been associated with magic and spirituality—its incense was used in rituals seeking protection, and it is considered in some sources one of the key components of sacred incense.
